Literacy Work Stations - help NEEDED!!!!!

Ok girls! I am going to revamp totally and put literacy work stations in place to fidelity - just as I do math work stations. I have witnessed such success with math that I really believe these literacy stations will do the same. I am planning to have 11 stations and have come to realize that kids don't need busy work.  They need to have experience with real life situations where they are reading, writing and manipulating words.

So born, my literacy work stations pack. It will be coming soon. I have started by simply making I can charts for all 11 stations that I want to use. And my disclaimer is that I have simply copied the charts from the recommendations in Debbie Diller's amazing book Literacy Work Stations.  This is something you could even do if you didn't want to wait for mine! :)

Ok...here is the help part... I really need to gather some ideas of when and how I will pull small groups for reading instruction. If you do literacy stations in your room, I'd love to hear how you organize this!!  I hate to pull students away from their station time because they are doing some amazing practice. One thought I had was to pull groups during my writers workshop time but them there won't be time for conferencing.

Do you use stations?  If so, do you pull small groups too?  And when do you meet with these groups?

  1. Hello! Stopping by to let you know that I have nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger award. Literacy stations are always hard to get together. It took me a couple of months, maybe even until Thanksgiving to figure out what worked for me and my 28 first graders!

Head on over to my blog to find out the details!
